Rose McDonough, Flag Corps Instructor
Welcome to the 2009-2010 St. Albans Color Guard Webpage. St. Albans High School color guard is well known across the state and region for its complex work and cutting edge style. This year’s group is comprised of 7 amazing young women! The philosophy behind the work of this group is to put to the eyes the music that is being played. An individual with a hearing disability should be able to watch our performance and understand what the band is playing. We are responsible for adding color and mood to the musical notes using equipment and dance as their instrument. Being on the color guard is not for the weak as the work is tough, challenging both mentally and physically requiring strong endurance, persistence and good work ethic. This program is based on solid technique and challenging choreography. Never has it settled for anything less than pushing the members to be his/her very best. Color guard is often misunderstood and looks much easier than it is, just ask the new girls! But through team work, sweat, tears and laughter, the knowledge is layered and strength is built, week after week until a beautiful product is produced for the crowd. We are always recruiting and plan to do a winter program to build skill and recruit for next season. If you are interested in learning more about this strong longstanding program, contact Rose McDonough, instructor at tappinrose@aol.com or Band Director Tim White at twhite@marchingdragons.comfor more information.
