The Red Dragon Band is a competition band that provides an opportunity unlike any other. We provide the students a venue for them to express themselves artistically. The students put in long hours and much heart into their beliefs. They believe in our group as a safe haven, a place where they can be themselves and a state of completeness.
As with all bands, the Red Dragon Band must raise funds on its own in order to complete the type of schedule they do. We travel to such places as Pennsylvania, Maryland and Florida. The Band has performed in Disney and various other such venues. They have placed a higher degree of expectations on themselves, not for awards but for self motivations. As the Red Dragon Band works toward their season they are ingrained with three words; Cooperation, Discipline and Pride. We learn cooperation by being not just individuals but an individual pushing him or herself to be come one with many. Discipline, the art of controlling ones self in order to bring a type of class with the band that some say is lost in children. Pride, with cooperation and discipline together the students find a type of pride in accomplishment that only comes with an attitude of ensemble. This is who, what and how we are. But with this come a financial burden that we all are struggling with today. But we must still turn to our public, our community our families and friends for this support.
